BEFORE: Valentine's Day was just weeks away and we needed a suitable image to promote a special menu on social media in advance. The restaurant wouldn't be decorated until just before dinner service on the day, and there were no photos available from previous years.
AFTER: We applied a black-and-white filter to this generic exterior shot. Then painted the tree leaves red to make them resemble rose petals. Reinstated some colour to the restaurant sign to make it stand out against the trees and veranda. The result was both striking and relevant for the occasion.
BEFORE: The appearance of this delicious dish is marred by oil splatters, meat juices and untidy seasoning.
AFTER: We removed all noticeable blemishes, reduced shadows and made the colours more vivid in post-production.
BEFORE: This was already a nice photo, but we needed it to command more attention on social media so that people would be more likely to stop scrolling and read the Valentine's Day-themed caption.
AFTER: Rather than simply overlay two-dimensional words, we added skewed text that looks like it belongs directly in the 3D scene. We also added a discreet pink filter to match the occasion of Valentine's Day.
BEFORE: A behind-the-scenes image of the chefs preparing burger boards. Unfortunately, the kitchen lighting was very cold and harsh, and there was visible steam and smoke in the background. Plus, there were a few unattractive trays and buckets to the left of the shot.
AFTER: We turned everything except the boards black-and-white to draw attention to the food and disguise some of the smoke. Reduced the shine of the burger buns. Increased the brightness and green tones of the salad leaves to give them more life. Cropped out some of the trays and buckets.
BEFORE: The flames and food captured in mid-air make for an impressive foreground, but the items in the background are distracting and unsightly.
AFTER: We painted on top of the silver vat, black tray and red box. Then added a black vignette to direct attention to the centre of the image.
